Dear Parents, Teachers and Students,

After School Safety
Can I please ask for the assistance of all families in keeping our students safe at pick-up time. Bikes and scooters should not be ridden on school grounds; please walk them to the gates and always wear a helmet. I also ask that students not be allowed to play on the equipment after school, even if parents are standing nearby.

Thank you for your support in this matter. 

2020 Enrolments
Our enrolment period for 2020 is officially open, and tonight Mt Carmel is holding its Kinder 2020 Information Evening in the Lacey Library at 7pm.
If you have a pre-school child ready for Kindergarten next year, please contact the front office for an enrolment package. An interview will be organised once the enrolment application is received. If your friends have a child starting in Kindergarten next year, please encourage them to consider Mt Carmel as an option for their children’s education. Thank you and congratulations to Isabella Frean, Oliver Frean, Louis Green, Baxter Sicily, Mini White and Ella Young for their efforts in preparing and guiding the Open Day tours yesterday. 

School Photos
A reminder that school photos will take place next Monday 13 May. Students are to wear their full winter uniform, including jumper. You should have already received photo envelopes. Family photo envelopes are available from the front office, if required.

NAPLAN
The annual National Assessment Program—Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) will be held next week over three days, and this year Mt Carmel will be completing the Assessments online, with the exception of Year 3 Writing, which will be completed with pencil and paper.

Years 3 and 5 students will complete the Writing component on Tuesday, Reading and Conventions of Language on Wednesday and Numeracy on Thursday. We will be treating participation in NAPLAN as just another day at school. Please don’t feel the need to do anything at home in preparation for your child’s participation in NAPLAN; a good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast are the best assistance you can provide to help your child perform at their best. 

MADD Night
Mt Carmel’s annual extravaganza of Music, Art, Dance and Drama—MADD Night—is on this Friday at 6:30pm in the Performing Arts Centre. Doors open at 6pm and the show will begin at 6:30pm sharp. Entry is by gold coin donation; there is no reserve seating. The show will be in two acts, with a brief intermission and supper. Brave the weather and join us for a fun night of music and movement—you’d be MADD to miss it! 

Happy Mother’s Day
And finally, I would like to wish a very happy Mothers Day to all the mums in our community. Our Mother’s Day Prayer Service will be at 9am on Friday, hosted by 1SS. I hope that you have a wonderful Sunday, filled with love and joy. May God bless each and every one of you.
