Sizzle - Week 1 & 2
TELL OTHERS ABOUT YOUR SKILLS
For the next 2 weeks in SIZZLE, we are talking about ‘Telling others about your skills’. Talking about your skills means telling others what you believe you can do well and what things you may need to improve. When you tell others about your skills, it is best to describe your skills accurately without exaggerating or bragging. Be confident and polite when you talk about your skills and others will listen better. When we talk about this skill, we use words like accurate, strengths, weaknesses and confidence.
Students will learn to
- talk about when to tell others about his or her skills,
- name feelings associated with telling others about their skills,
- identify positive examples of this skill, and
- show how to properly tell others about his or her skills.
When others ask you to tell them about your skills, you can use these four steps:
Step 1: Think: Given the situation, what are my strengths and weaknesses?
Step 2: Tell: Look at the other person and tell them about your strengths in a way that is accurate; talk about some of your weaknesses.
Step 3: Smile: Show you are confident and positive about your skills.
Step 4: Ask: Ask if the other person has questions about your skills.
I have attached a copy of the skill step card for you to print and refer to at home when you talk about each other's strengths.
Have a wonderful week
