Dear Parents, Teachers and Students,

Compass Kiosk and Parent Portal
We are currently in the process of transitioning to a new Student Administration System called Compass, which will mean a few changes for parents as well. First is a new student and visitor sign-in and out system at the front office. The Compass Kiosk has now replaced the iPad at the office, and when parents sign their child in or out of the school, the Kiosk interacts directly with our attendance system to accurately record all information. If you are bringing your child to school late, it is important that you do not just drop them at the school gate. All late arrivals must be signed in by a parent, otherwise their partial absence is recorded as unexplained. Another facility that Compass will offer is called Parent Portal, and in the coming days you will receive a letter containing information about how to access your Parent Portal account, which will allow you to submit absence and permission notes, see your child’s attendance records, receive messages from the school and access your child’s academic reports. The Parent Portal can be accessed via a smartphone app or via a web-browser and will be replacing SZapp as our primary method of communication.

Feast of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop
This Sunday is the Feast of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop — Australia’s first saint. We will be marking Mary’s feast day with a Prayer Service in the PAC this Friday at 9am, led by 3MA.

Mary MacKillop is recognised for her commitment to education and the poor, helping those who needed it the most in any way she could. One of Mary’s best-known sayings is “Never see a need without doing something about it”, and I challenge all in our school community to take these words to heart in their daily lives.



100 Days of Kinder
On Friday Kindergarten had lots of fun celebrating their 100th day of big school. Time flies when you’re having fun!

SPIN Pyjama Day
At last Friday’s Pyjama Day, Mt Carmel raised a little over $400 for the Yass Valley SPIN Foundation, a wonderful charity supporting people in need in our own community.


Athletics Field Distance Markers
Many thanks to Yass Outdoor Sports and Camping and to Mark Welsh for their generous sponsorship of two new sets Sport Positional Marking Pins to assist with our athletics field events.
