Religious Education
3MA will be leading a prayer service this Friday 6 August to celebrate the Feast of Saint Mary MacKillop.
The Feast Day is held every August 8th, in honour of the revered Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop. She was the first Saint of Australia, and her influence in the country has spread far and wide. She is recognised for her commitment to the poor, helping those who needed it the most in any way she could (Mount Gambier Point, 2021). Below are a few of Saint Mary’s quotes:

Religious Education in the Classroom
Teachers and students have been using different Visible Thinking Routines (VTRs) to gain a deeper understanding of concepts taught. VTRs assist teachers to identify what students understand, the product of their thinking, and how students process their thinking. Year 1 students used the VTR: See, Think, Wonder to explore Genesis 2: 4b-8,15-23, through different images.

Last Wednesday afternoon, after school, all teachers participated in a Professional Learning session exploring a few different VTRs. It was demonstrated that VTRs can be used as powerful tools to assist in the development of students’ thinking with content learning across the curriculum.
Vinnies Winter Appeal - This is Mt Carmel’s last week of collecting donations. We invite you to donate to help those doing it especially tough during the winter months. Each classroom will have a basket for the donations or you can donate online at https://donate.vinnies.org.au/winter-appeal

Prayer
An invitation to pray:
O God, source of all goodness,
who have shown us in Saint Mary
a woman of faith living by the power of the Cross,
teach us, we pray, by her example
to live the gospel in changing times
and to respect and defend
the human dignity of all in our land.
Through our Lord. Amen.
May peace be with you,
