Religious Education in the Classroom
Welcome to Week 8! 3JR students are using the Bible to locate scripture passages and explore the structure of the New Testament. I asked students to explain what they knew about the New Testament and below are their answers.
Camilla: Mark, Matthew, Luke and John wrote the Gospels so everyone knew about Jesus’ life and what he did to help everyone.
Juliette: The writers could have been paid to write the Gospels because they believed in Jesus and wanted everyone else to know about him.
Ellie: The New Testament is about Jesus and students need to know about the Christian values of the Gospels.
Olivia: Through the New Testament we learn more about the Catholic faith.
Jackson: The New Testament influences our lives today. It gives information about Jesus and God.

We are seeking your support to help those less fortunate in our community through generous donations of non-perishable food items. Your generosity and support is most appreciated. St Augustine’s Conference has requested the following items.
Dear Father,
Be with us as we pray.
Open our ears to hear your Word in the Gospel.
Unite us in faith, hope and love as we pray together.
Send your Holy Spirit to inspire and sustain us in our mission.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
John 18:33-37
‘Are you the king of the Jews?’ Pilate asked. Jesus replied, ‘Do you ask this of your own accord, or have others spoken to you about me?’ Pilate answered, ‘Am I a Jew? It is your own people and the chief priests who have handed you over to me: what have you done?’ Jesus replied, ‘Mine is not a kingdom of this world; if my kingdom were of this world, my men would have fought to prevent my being surrendered to the Jews. But my kingdom is not of this kind.’ ‘So you are a king then?’ said Pilate. ‘It is you who say it’ answered Jesus. ‘Yes, I am a king. I was born for this, I came into the world for this: to bear witness to the truth; and all who are on the side of truth listen to my voice.’
What words or phrases struck you in this Gospel reading?
What might God be prompting you to consider or inviting you to do in and through the Gospel?
