Principal Report
Student Leadership 2020
Congratulations to all the Year 5 students who, today, presented their speeches for Student Leadership positions in 2020; the standard of speeches this year was outstanding! The next step in the process will be a panel interview next Thursday 5 December. Good luck to all of our potential leaders.
Advent
Advent, our season of waiting and preparation for the birth of Christ, commences this Sunday. The passing of the weeks of Advent are traditionally marked with the lighting of five candles in an Advent wreath: one for each Sunday of Advent and one for Christmas day. The first candle is violet and represents hope; the second, also violet, represents peace; the third candle is pink and represents joy; the fourth, violet, represents love; and the final, central, candle is white and represents the light of Christ coming into the world. Please join us for our Advent Prayer Service next Monday at 9am in the PAC, as we light out first candle, beginning our journey towards Christmas, and pray for hope:
Christ our Hope,
Shine in our lives with hope and promise. Open our eyes to see you in others. Help us to be people of hope.
We await your coming with gratitude.
Amen
After the Advent Prayer Service on Monday Principal Awards will be presented.
Christmas Concert & Presentation Night
This year’s K-6 Christmas Concert will be held on Friday 13 December at 11:30am. All families are invited to join us as we present a retelling of the Nativity of Jesus Christ. At this gathering we will also be handing out our final Principal’s Awards for the year, and there will be some special presentations from our specialist classes too.
Presentation Night will be held on Thursday 12 December in the PAC; parents of our Year 6 students and of students receiving awards will be invited to attend.
Years 1 & 2 Swimming Program
The Year 1 and 2 swimming program commences next week and there are still quite a few outstanding fees. It is important that fees are paid before the commencement of the program. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly if this presents a problem.
School Disco
Our school disco was a great success last Thursday and good fun was had by all. Thanks to the SRC who were responsible for set-up and clean-up of the event and for running the door and the canteen on the night. An extra special thank you to Patrick, Clare, Isabelle, Katie and Charlotte who volunteered from St Augustine’s Youth Group to run the evening and keep everyone engaged with dances and games.
May God’s peace be in your families,
