I would also like to congratulate all the other Year 5 students who put themselves forward as nominees for Student Leadership. All of the applications, speeches and interviews were of outstanding quality and I would like to reaffirm that, even without a formal Leadership position, all of our Year 6 students are considered to be leaders within our school.

2020 Class Lists
Class lists with their class teacher’s name will be sent home with your child next Monday along with their semester report. Please understand that once the lists have been published, students cannot be moved to another class. Thank you to the staff for the hours of dedication that are required in constructing the class lists to best meet the learning needs of each child.

2019 Yearbook
Thank you and congratulations to Miss Tara Cassidy for coordinating and compiling our 2019 Yearbook. It is a wonderful memory of the events of this year and I recommend it to all. It will be distributed next week to families who have placed an order.

Presentation Evening
Mt Carmel’s Presentation Evening will be held tomorrow at 7pm in the PAC. Only families of children receiving awards need to attend the evening, and these have been notified by letter. Congratulations to all our 2019 award recipients. It is important that students arrive by 6:45pm at the latest so the evening can commence promptly.

Christmas Concert
The K-6 Christmas Concert will commence at 11:30am this Friday 13 December. Remember to please bring a folding chair if you can, as we will have limited guest seating available. If weather conditions, including excessive smoke in the air, necessitate a change of time or venue an alert will be sent via the school app on Friday morning.

End of Year Celebrations
Next Tuesday, at 9:45am in St Augustine’s Church, we will be celebrating our Year 6 Graduation Mass. All families are most warmly invited to attend. Following Mass there will be a morning tea in the Hartigan Centre for all Year 6 families. 

At 11:30am we will hold our traditional Farewell Assembly for Year 6 in the PAC and at 6pm in the evening our Year 6 Colour Party.

Special thanks to Joh McColl and Kirby Jones for organising the social events to help mark the end of an era for our senior students.

2020 Commencement Date
The first day of the 2020 school year will be on Thursday 30 January. On Tuesday and Wednesday of that week staff will be participating in Staff Planning and Professional Learning days. I look forward to seeing everyone after the holidays, especially our new Kindergarten students!

Merry Christmas
Finally, as this is our last newsletter for the year, thank you to every fabulous family for their support this year; I am very grateful to you all. Thank you to the teaching and support staff for their tireless effort, commitment and vocation.
Thank you to the sensational students; I hope that you are all proud of your efforts and achievements this year. Now it’s time for a rest; take good care over the Christmas break.

May you all, and your families, have a happy and Holy Christmas in this year of Our Lord, 2019, and may the peace of the Infant Child be with you every day.
