Principal Report
Project Compassion, Caritas Australia
Project Compassion, Caritas Australia’s annual Lenten appeal has commenced and we encourage each family to contribute to this appeal. While there is no obligation for primary-school-aged children to fast, many will be familiar with the idea of giving something up for Lent, however this is also a time of reflection of where we can listen to God’s word and follow his call through our loving actions. Lent is the perfect time to commit ourselves to a positive action for the good of others.
Archdiocesan Swimming in Narooma
Well done to all of the students who were selected to represent Mt Carmel at the Archdiocesan Swimming Carnival in Narooma on Monday. Several personal bests were achieved on the day – an outstanding effort by all participants. Congratulations to Brooke Reardon, Jack Ryan and Jack Shannon who will be competing at the next level of the competition, the CPS Swimming in Homebush. Good luck!
Mt Carmel is on Facebook
This year we will celebrate 200 years of Catholic Education in Australia. Our school is a significant part of this rich history, with this year also marking 175 continuous years of education on the Mt Carmel School site.
As part of these celebrations we launched a Facebook page last Friday to share some of our historical moments with our community and to also showcase our school so parents and caregivers can enjoy our school life events. Please follow our page and encourage your extended family members to join us to see what is happening each day in our wonderful school.
Please make sure you follow the Mt Carmel School Yass Facebook page as show in the image above.
Thank you to all families who have returned the social media note to the Front Office – these forms will be kept on your child’s file so we would appreciate any unreturned notes to be handed in as soon as possible.
We are also hoping to receive contributions from past Mt Carmel students for our Flashback Friday posts. If you have any photos could you please write a brief description, including the year they were taken and email them to jan.harvey@cg.catholic.edu.au We look forward to seeing and sharing some great memories.
Assembly
Our first K-6 Assembly will be this Friday following morning lines in the Performing Arts Centre. This has been kindly prepared by 2SS and 4KF and we look forward to seeing your classes perform their items. Principal Awards will be presented at this Assembly.
May God’s peace be in your families,
Jan Harvey
