Principal Report
Dear Parents, Teachers and Students,
COVID-19 Update
In the final Carmeletta for last Term 2, I shared with you that Catholic Education had produced an “Easing of Restrictions Roadmap” for Catholic schools. In light of developments with COVID-19 over the holiday period the roadmap has been reviewed and amended to reflect the resurgence in case numbers. The revised Roadmap is attached for your information.
I can assure families that all Catholic Education’s recommendations are in line with NSW Health and AHPPC (the committee of all state and territory Chief Health Officers and the Australian Chief Medical Officer) advice and are being updated regularly to reflect changing circumstances. Prior to the holidays it was anticipated that the new term would commence at Stage 3 (see attached Roadmap for details); however, in deference to the increase in cases across NSW we are remaining at Stage 2.2 until further notice. Please also be assured that any future updates will be shared with families promptly and that we are committed to ensuring our school is a safe place for everybody.
It remains imperative that students and staff do not come to school if they are unwell, and that parents exercise appropriate social distancing when on school grounds, especially at drop-off and pickup times.
Community Council Nominations
On Monday notes were sent home concerning nominations for the school Community Council. Forms are due back by Friday 14 August (Week 4). Our school has achieved so much during its long history. We do, however, need to harness the support of as many parents as possible to achieve even greater things in the future. Please consider nominating as a member of the Council and in doing so make a contribution and share your talents. Thank you for your support.
Pyjama Day
Remember that this Friday is Pyjama Day, in support of Yass SPIN. So come along in your comfiest jim-jams and bring a gold coin donation to Support People In Need in our local community.
School Photos
School Photos are being taken on Monday 10 August, Week 4. Orders should be placed online using the unique key that was sent home last week. If you are unable to complete an online order please contact the school office to receive a cash payment order form. Order forms for family photos can be collected from the school office and must be returned on photo day at the latest.
Mini-Writing Festival
This week students across the school have been participating in an online writing festival, featuring interactive workshops with authors and illustrators including Andrew Daddo, Steven Michael King, Jackie French and Deborah Abela.
The festival has been very entertaining and engaging so far, and I can’t wait to read some of the creative stories that our talented students produce as a result!

Counselling Review
In 2019, Catholic Education Canberra Goulburn (CECG) engaged Integroe Partners to conduct an independent review into student counselling and wellbeing services in our schools. Attached to this week’s Carmeletta, for interested families, is a letter from CECG's Student Counselling and Welfare Manager with an update on the review.
We have a lost pair of glasses that has been waiting for their owner at the office since the end of last term.
May God’s peace be in your families,
