Dear Parents, Teachers and Students, 

Open Classrooms
A reminder to all families that, due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, we are unable to host Open Classrooms next Wednesday as planned. Instead, so that parents can receive a mid-semester update on their child’s learning and ongoing work, students will bring their classroom home to you, with a selection of work samples from across the curriculum to provide a broad snapshot of their learning this term. Samples provided will range from work-in-progress to published-quality standard, so we ask you to take the time to discuss each piece with your child with the understanding that what you are viewing is more than a product in its own right – it represents part of a process. To help place the samples in context, brief descriptions of the learning intentions for each task will be provided. Although this will not be quite the same experience as visiting your child’s classroom to share in their work, we hope that you find this alternative useful and that you and your child enjoy discussing their learning together.

Uniform
A reminder that when Term 4 commences on Monday 12 October, students will return to school in their summer uniforms, including their school hat, which must be worn at Recess and Lunch if students wish to play on the ovals, sports courts or equipment. Please ensure that all uniform items, especially hats, jumpers and track suit, are clearly labelled with your child’s name—we have a tremendous amount of lost property that is unnamed!


Canteen Meal Deal Next Friday
To celebrate the end of the term, next Friday, 25 September, the canteen will be running a Meal Deal Day for lunch. Kids can choose between a Hot Dog and Ice Block or Hot Dog and Juice Popper. If you wish to purchase a Meal Deal, orders must be pre-ordered, as we will need to  pre-order the buns and hot dogs prior to the day from the supermarket.

Pre-orders are now open and will close on Friday 18 September at 2.30pm. 

Sausage rolls, pies, corn cobs and sandwich options will also be available on the day, although these do not need to be pre ordered.

Staffing
Next term Mr Ziebowski will be taking leave and Ms Grace will be teaching 5/6GZ full-time. In Mr Ziebowski’s absence Mrs Karakotas will be Acting Religious Education Coordinator and I welcome her to the school Leadership Team. The role of Religious Education Coordinator entails three days per fortnight release from the classroom; Mrs Emily Rhodes will be teaching 1EK on these days.

And finally, as I will be on leave next week, I would like to wish everybody a safe and restful Term 3 holiday. I look forward to seeing everyone back at school for what will I'm sure will be a busy and exciting final term of the 2020 school year.
