Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Teachers and Students,

Vale Jan Stuart
Jan Stuart, the Mt Carmel School Secretary from 1986 to 2001, passed away peacefully last Friday with her family by her side. She is fondly remembered by many of our current staff, some of whom benefited from her care and attention as students of Mt Carmel themselves. Jan’s funeral is being held tomorrow morning and, as a sign of respect, our Primary students will form a guard of honour along Dutton Street at the conclusion of the service.

Eternal rest grant unto Jan, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her.

May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Amen

First Eucharist
This weekend will be a very special time for the students in our school and parish who celebrate their First Communion. The final stage of their preparation to receive the Sacrament is a reflection day this Friday. Many thanks to the parents, teachers and members of the parish sacramental team who have all helped our students along the way in this very special journey.

Kindergarten Orientation
Today we held our final Kindergarten Orientation before our new students start next year. It has been absolutely wonderful getting to know everyone and we are looking forward to an exciting start to the new school year. A very special thank you to the student leaders who, each week, helped to meet and greet the new students and their families and who helped out in the classrooms and on the playground. Many parents have commented to me about how helpful and mature these students were; you have set a fine example and I am very proud of you all.

Daytime Disco
This Friday we will be holding our Daytime Disco – K-2 at Recess and 3-6 at Lunch; students attending the Reflection Day will not miss out as they will be having their breaks at the usual times. Students can wear mufti for a gold-coin donation and drinks and chips will be available to purchase for $1 each. Thanks to the SRC for their organisation of this fun event.

May God’s peace be in your families,
