Dear Parents, Teachers and Students,
2nd Week of Advent
God of hope, who brought love into this world,
be the love that dwells between us.
God of hope, who brought peace into this world,
be the peace that dwells between us.
God of hope, who brought joy into this world,
be the joy that dwells between us.
God of hope, the rock we stand upon,
be the centre, the focus of our lives
always, and particularly this Advent time.
Thank you to Mrs Broers and KNB for leading us in a beautiful prayer assembly to mark our second Week of Advent. Next Monday, at 9am, KJG will be leading our third Advent prayer assembly. Parents are welcome to join us.
Colour Fun Day
This Friday, 9 December, we will be (finally) holding our Colour Fun Day. The Colour Fun activities will be held in the afternoon, following an early sausage-sizzle lunch. All students will be provided with a sausage sandwich and an ice-block for lunch at 12:30pm; all dietary needs will be catered for. The canteen will also be open for lunch orders, but with a limited menu. After lunch we will hold a series of fun (and colourfully messy) rotation activities. Students can wear mufti on Friday, preferably light colours, and certainly clothes that can get dirty. During some activities, colourfully dyed powders will be thrown over students. The powders are low-allergy, cornstarch-based, non-staining and made to be safe for contact. A material safety data sheet can be found later in the newsletter. Students who are catching a bus home on Friday afternoon will need to bring a change of clothes and a plastic bag to put their dirty clothes in.
Reports
End of Year Reports will be accessible to families on Compass next Monday; please take the time to read your child’s report together with them and affirm their many achievements. It is important to note that if your child is finishing at Mt Carmel at the end of this year you will need to download all your child’s reports before Friday 16 December as you will no longer have access to their profile on Compass after their final day of enrolment.
End of Year Events
At 12pm next Tuesday 13 December we will be holding our Christmas Concert, featuring a Nativity play and a range of traditional and modern Christmas performances. At 9am on Wednesday 14 December, we will have a Year 3-5 awards assembly to recognise the efforts and achievements of our Primary students; parents will be notified in advance if their child will be receiving an award and are welcome to attend. On Thursday 15 December, we will be holding our Graduation Mass at 9:30am in St Augustine’s Church, with Year 6 awards being presented in the church at the conclusion of Mass. After Recess, at 11:30am, we will hold our traditional Farewell Assembly to wish our School Leaders well for their journey to High School.
All of these events are listed on our school calendar, which can be found on our website at https://www.mtcarmel.nsw.edu.au/calendar.

These sessions aim to identify challenges and opportunities of the school holiday period, offer practical ideas for parents and carers, provide information about additional support services, and highlight the importance of self-care. There will be multiple sessions held at different times of day across the holiday period. For more information, including how to register your interest, see the flier attached to this newsletter.
May God’s peace be in your families,
Welcome to Week 9! This week is the second week of Advent and KNB led a beautiful Advent Prayer Service on Monday. We light the second candle of Peace as a symbol of the peace and goodwill to all that having faith in Jesus brings.
KJG will lead our Week 3 Advent Prayer Service next Monday morning at 9 am. Parents and families are welcome to attend.
This term, our Youth Ministry team will be leading prayer every Thursday for the Year 5 and 6 students. Last week, Hayden, Harry and Emmett led our prayer in the Mercy Chapel.
Sienna, Gabby R.,Georgia I., and Ella C., will be leading tomorrow’s prayer.
Thank you to all the families who have provided donations for the Vinnies Christmas Appeal. It is great to see so many baskets filled with donations!
We are seeking your support to help those less fortunate in our community through generous donations of non-perishable food items. Your generosity and support is most appreciated. St Augustine’s Conference has requested the following items:
Dear Lord, Help me to prepare for the future, when you come again.
Strengthen me to live in a state of readiness, ministering to the needs of others and being awake to your presence in my life.
Amen.
